Cancalanog Falls and Cancalanog Cave ( South Cebu )

After our Kitara Falls adventure we search for a new falls near in Alegria. We google it and found Cancalanog Falls. We started our road trip travel and ask the locals nearby if they knew that place. It was already around 3pm when we arrived to Barangay Compostella.
We quickly search the falls and arrived at 4pm the first thing I noticed the area was not been well maintained and it looks like a abandoned place. The place was creepy and quiet since we are the only group of persons that was been there. Our friend Warren was the first to notice the cave a long the way going down to the waterfalls. We decided to go inside and we only use LJ's iphone for source of light. We just explored the entrance of the cave and decided to go back the next day and bring our headlamps and explore the cave again. It was almost dark and we decided to go back to the car and we look for a place where it is safe and free to camp overnight.

Next day morning after breakfast we went back to the Cave with our headlamps ready. Before entering the cave we tell the kids ( Warrens Nephews ) that if we don't come back after an hour search for anyone and seek for help.

Me, Fritzdayle, Noreen, Lj and Warren

We just explored about about 40-50 meters from the entrance since there was a part in the cave that you need to crawl in a muddy water to reach inside because there is a stalactites in the way. We didn't proceed because me and LJ was scared to crawl down to the muddy water inside. I was thinking it might have snakes beneath the waters. We decided to go back and proceed to the waterfalls.

After a few shots of Emperador Light ( alcoholic drink ) I dare to jump in the cliff and then everyone follows. We stayed whole day in Cancalanog and then we proceed to Mainit Spring.

Note:

Its better and safe to hire a guide specially doing extreme sports like spelunking. I don't advice to do the same stuff us we did exploring caves without guides and proper gears specially like helmets. Take your own risk and have some fun.

How to get here:

Ride a Ceres Bus in South Bus Terminal Cebu going to Alegria: 135php/fair

From Alegria hire a habal-habal ( motorbike ) going to Brgy. Compostella or ask the driver to take you to Cancalanog Falls.
